Five Great Summer Outings for Toddlers
When it comes to entertaining toddlers there can be quite a few challenges due to their size and mobility. Toddlers can run around and have lots of energy to use but are not always the best listeners. It is important to keep them entertained and safe at the same time. To help you enjoy the good weather here are five great summer outings for toddlers.
Zoo
Taking your toddlers to the zoo is a great way to get out of house for an experiential learning experience. Toddlers enjoy running around and learning about all the different animals which helps burn off energy and expand their vocabulary. Most zoos offer food items and fun animal shows for the kids to see animals up close which is fun for you and your little ones.
Aquarium
The aquarium is a great place to take toddlers because it is contained within buildings. That is a great set up because they can run around and look at all the tanks. It is fun to watch the fish swimming around and teach your toddler about the different species. Make a date to go to the aquarium so your toddler can enjoy the aquatic animals and exert some energy.
Water Park
For unbearable hot and humid days a water park is a great place to take your toddlers. They usually have a wave pool or lazy river that is great to spend time floating around together. Also most water parks have play areas that are designed for young children with water slides, spraying water and obstacles. This is a perfect way to spend the day in your bathing suits cooling off from the hot sun with your kids.
Park
Spending the day in a city park with a playground is great to do with toddlers. Most parks have wide open spaces that are perfect for kicking around a playground ball or playing a round of kiddie golf. Pack a lunch so you can refuel before hitting the playground for the rest of the afternoon. Toddlers love playing outside and it is the best way to tire them out before dinner and bedtime.
Beach
If you live close to a lake or coastline the beach is a perfect daytrip for you and your children. Make sure you pack plenty of sun block, sand toys and lifejackets so there are no accidents. Also if you have access to a beach umbrella that is a nice way to take breaks from the sun and allow your toddler to nap. Take full advantage of the beach if you can because it is fun for toddlers and it a great way to make them exhausted.
Fun activities in the community are great for toddlers and young children because they keep them preoccupied and teach new things. Experiential learning is important for young ones so make the most of activities in your community. This will make both you and your toddler happy. They will be tired at the end of the day and neither of you will go stir crazy in your house.
